Buddhadharma : Winter 2013
At least, that’s what a lot of people think. And in a way they’re right. The Shambhala Sun Foundation is a mission-driven nonprofit with an entrepreneurial bent. We don’t ask for money to sustain operations or cover deficits. Our magazines—the Shambhala Sun and Buddhadharma— reach hundreds of thousands of readers, and because of their success we can support the dharma with our websites, books, conferences, and other offerings. Even in these tough economic times, we’re on solid ground. Good dharma, good management, good magazines—it works. But (you knew there was a but) there’s so much more we can do with your support, so many ways to help the dharma flourish that we can’t fund with just the revenue from our magazines. As a nonprofit, we can’t raise capital like a regular business does. Our successful launches of Buddhadharma and our mindfulness initiative were only possible with the backing of supporters like you. Your donation to the Shambhala Sun Foundation funds important projects that will benefit the dharma for years to come. When you support the Shambhala Sun Foundation, you’re investing in a staff of professionals who are deeply commited to its mission. You’re investing in an entrepeneurially oriented nonprofit with a track record of successful initiatives. You’re investing in the future of the dharma. Your donation, big or small, makes all the difference. To support the work of the Shambhala Sun Foundation, visit: www.shambhalasun.com/ donate, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Cindy Littlefair at 1-877-422-8404, ext. 36.
