Buddhadharma : Fall 2008
11 fall 2 00 8 buddhadharma: the practitioner’s quarterly We suggest that Buddhism does make you happier, but it takes work. Practi tioners must discover for themselves that the objects of craving change over time. Once realized and incorporated into daily life, you will not be caught up in the cycle of conditioned arising, which attaches us to suffering. This is like a canoeist who learns new paddling skills and can apply them in different situations (lakes, rivers, oceans). Once learned, a Buddhist’s skill can be applied in all sorts of life situations. Don Purchase, Eleanor Gibson, Ray Parchelo The Red Maple Sangha Carleton Place, Ontario Irecently came across the current issue of Buddhadharma, and I was so happy to have found a journal that helps me gain more knowledge about the Buddha and his teachings from all the different traditions. Your magazine is the first one where I’ve read every single article, from the first page to the last, while wishing there was another issue to buy next month. It took me years to find a journal like yours. Keep up the great work. Juan A.
